Gaming Mouse Pads FAQs

When was the term mouse pad coined?

The Oxford English Dictionary first records the term mouse pad being used in an article in InfoWorld Magazine on the 25th of August 1973. The predominately British term mouse mat did not appear until a few years later in a 1989 publication of 3D Magazine on the 17th of October. Both terms are mutually intelligible but used based upon which side of the Atlantic a person happens to be on.

What is a USB mouse pad?

A USB mouse pad is a pad designed to plug into one of a computer’s USB drives. The pad then acts as a USB hub which provides many more USB ports to be used for things like joysticks or extra IPod cord connections. It is not uncommon for USB mouse pads to also light up with colored LED lights.

What is a drawing tablet mouse pad?

A drawing tablet mouse pad is a specially designed mouse pad that allows the users to employ a stylus for more complex tasks such as architectural drafting or the work of an engineer. Though they can be rather expensive, they are a must for more complex computer functions. Many of these mouse pads also employ additional USB ports and can outperform any regular mouse.
